Sonus' Latest Production a Celebration of Jule Styne
April 29, 2012

Sonus Stage Productions is very excited to be presenting a cabaret review of the life and career of
one of the most prolific composers to every enter the Broadway scene. Jule Styne was a composer
who worked with, and knew everyone, including Frank Sinatra, Sammy Cahn, Bob Merrill and Stephen
        Sondheim.

Styne wrote over 1,500 songs, and composed the scores to such Broadway hits as
Gentlemen
Prefer Blondes, Bells Are Ringing, Gypsy and Funny Girl.
This June the 6th, treat yourself to an

hour and a half of some of the greatest Broadway and Hollywood music ever written, as our cast
takes you through Jule Styne's life, faith, and career using both traditional and jazz renditions of
some of his best known, and least known tunes.

Curtain on Side by Side by Sondheim
October 24, 2011

Sonus Stage Productions' inaugural  show; Side By Side by Sondheim closed yesterday to a
standing ovation by an appreciative audience. The show, Music Directed by Jeannie Wyse, and
with performances by Mikaela MacGillivray, Tammy Everett, John McNeill and Brandon McKinson
was a perfect reflection of the quality of theatre Sonus Stage hopes to bring to Toronto stages
over the next several years.  "The performances," as Mr. Adam Collier of Mooney on Theatre put
it, "[were] stellar".  Sonus Stage would like to thank everyone who came out to support their
inaugural production, as well as the cast and crew who made it possible. See you again very soon!

Sonus Stage Announces Their Cast
August 13, 2011

Sonus Stage would like to introduce everyone to the cast of Side by Side by Sondheim.
On July 27th, Sonus held auditions at the Randolph Academy for the Performing Arts. And
though there were many extraordinary performers, Jeannie Wyse, along with two members of
the board, chose cast members Brandyn McKinson, John McNeill, Tammy Everett and Mikaela
MacGillivray to head Sonus' inaugural production. This small cast will also set the tone for
what can be expected to come from this new company.

These performers come from a variety of backgrounds and boast a list of special skills from
bari-sax and clarinet to kayaking and stage combat. But one things for sure; whether they're
a recent Randolph graduate or someone who's worked in the industry for a number of years,
this cast has some serious pipes, and some huge acting chops. Keep visiting our "About" page
for more information, as we start to reveal more tidbits about the people behind the show.

Side by Side with Sonus!
June 13, 2011

Sonus is formally announcing its first fundraiser; Side by Side with Sonus, to take place
June 27th at the Smiling Buddha on College Street. This cabaret-style fundraiser is
going to be featuring the talents of such performers as Jeannie Wyse, Janna Polzin,
Kelly Holiff, A Sondheim Jazz Project, Lani Billard and many more!

Sonus is also excited about the extraordinary donations they've received for the raffle
that they'll be holding at the fundraiser. Sets of photographs by Angela Everett (with
Cirque de Soleil), prints by graphic artist Greg Puzniak (our logo designer), a designer
watch and purse (the watch is a Leafs Timex valued at $150), a free consultation and
session with a personal trainer (donated by Tori Elliott), and so much more.

Sonus will be revealing more acts and prizes as the fundraiser draws closer, but it is
safe to say that this will be one exciting night you won't want to miss. Entrance at
the door is only $15, but space is limited, so come early. We open the doors at 8pm
and the performances start as early as 8:30pm.

We hope to see you there!

Sonus Second Promo Video!
June 7, 2011

With plans for a fundraiser well underway and movement on "The Point"  on the rise
Sonus Stage decided it was high-time for a second promo video for their campaign
on "The Point". This video was done in conjunction with Focussed Boredom, run by
Cort Sloan; who contacted Sonus with an offer to shoot the promo for free. Sonus
was exceptionally excited about the project and they got to work immediately.

For those just joining us; "the Point" is a microfinancing site. They work with small
donations from many people, as opposed to large donations from few people. These
promo videos gave Sonus the prefect way to get their message out to a large number
of people. This second video is a spoof of your average, serious PSA, and features the
fabulous Michael Hartly as the announcer. Sonus Stage was actually thrilled with how
many actors came out in support, and hopes that donors all over will be just as
         excited about their work.

To support Sonus on "the Point" just go to the sponsor page and click on The Point's
icon. You can also email the link to your friends and colleagues. Don't forget to take
a glance down at the discussion board to see what great rewards you can get for
a donation of as little as $10!

To see our 2nd video on YouTube:

Sonus Stage has just posted their first video on YouTube to help garner support for their
campaign on "The Point" and to help them promote their production of Side by Side by
Sondheim, coming to the Walmer Centre Theatre, in the Annex, this October. This
ambitious fund-raising campaign started only a couple of weeks ago, and is already
being heavily promoted by Sonus on Facebook, Twitter and their website, as well as by
         email.

The hope is that with enough microfinancing (small donations from a large number
of people, in contrast to large sums from few people) Sonus Stage can raise the
money needed while giving everyone in the community (both cyber and physical) a
chance to be a part of the action.

To get in on the action, just go to the sponsor page and click on icon for The Point,
and send the movement forward by emailing the link to your friends. Don't forget to
take a glance down at the discussion board to see what great rewards you can get for
a donation of as little as $10!

Also don't forget to check out our video on YouTube:

What is "The Point?"
April 3, 2011

Yesterday Sonus Stage Productions started a campaign at thepoint.com. This campaign
is in an effort to raise funds for their inaugural production of Side by Side by Sondheim,
         taking place this October.

Thepoint.com is a site where people who have a common goal (lets say, helping a
new theatre company mount their first production) can individually agree to give
whatever amount they chose, and only IF the company raises the amount they require
to succeed will they receive that money.

More specifically, Sonus Stage is hoping to raise $7000 through the point, through
the generous support of our beloved theatre community. Sonus also has a sponsorship
program, but many people who would love to support the project aren't able to donate
large sums of money. However, if all those people gave just $10, and then told their
friends, and all their friends gave $10, Sonus could quickly raise the amount needed
to get Side by Side by Sondheim off the ground. However, no one actually gives any
of the money they've agreed to, unless Sonus reaches their "Tipping Point" of $7000
         and the show is guaranteed.

To further encourage their audience, Sonus is offering 1 ticket to anyone who gives
$30, and 2 tickets to anyone who gives $50 or more to Side by Side by Sondheim.
And the first 100 tickets sold through thepoint.com will be for opening night!

This is a very ambitious fund-raising campaign, but Sonus Stage is sure that supporters
of theatre will be able to get on board with this new idea. And thanks everyone
in advance for their help making this dream a reality.

Sonus joins Facebook

Sonus Stage Productions starts their campaign to bring awareness to their cause by
joining the social network that is Facebook.

"In our fast-paced, viral-media saturated world, theatre companies can't ignore the
benefit of grassroots promotion on social media networks such as Facebook and Twitter,"
says Tammy Everett. "It is the absolute best way for people to pass information around
these days, and having an audience capable of letting their friends know what they
support, or how much they loved a show instantaneously is not only gratifying, but
hugely beneficial to a budding theatre company. We hope that people who join our group,
or follow us on Twitter, once we've set up there, will be as excited about what we're
doing as we are and will spread the word."

Sonus' first show won't be happening until October, but they hope to create a
considerable amount of buzz before hand. Facebook is the first step, but Sonus
will also be joining Twitter in the near future.

Sonus Stage is proud to announce their inaugural production: Side by Side by Sondheim.
This musical review of one of the greatest writer/composers of the 20th century will
be taking place from October 5th to October 23rd at the Walmer Centre Theatre; located
in the heart of the Annex.

Joining this production is performer, teacher and music director Jeannie Wyse. A brilliant
and talented musician, Jeannie has agreed to take on the role of Music Director for this
         production.

Auditions have not yet been announced, but word is already starting to spread as Sonus
begins their sponsorship campaign. Stay posted for ways to get involved in Sonus' first
production, or visit our Sponsorship page to find out how you can help support Sonus'
         artistic endeavours.
